These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your use of bastionsafe.com (the “Site”), operated by Bastion Safety Solutions Inc. (“Bastion”, “we”, “us”), an Alberta company based in Edmonton. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. The basics
Plain English: using this site means you accept these rules, and we may update them from time to time.
We may revise these Terms at any time by updating this page. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms. These Terms apply to the Site only; services we deliver under a signed proposal or engagement agreement are governed by that agreement, and online course purchases are governed by our Course Terms of Service (see Section 7).
2. Site content and intellectual property
Plain English: our content is for your information. It isn’t professional advice, and it isn’t yours to republish.
The content on this Site — articles, guides, tools, images, and downloads — is provided for general information about workplace safety, certification, and related topics in Canada. It is not legal, financial, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for the requirements of your regulator, certifying partner, WCB, or the Alberta OHS Act. Always confirm requirements with the issuing authority.
All Site content is owned by Bastion or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view, download, and print content for your own business use. You may not republish, scrape, resell, or use Site content to train competing products or services without our written permission.
3. Calculators and estimates
Plain English: our calculators give estimates, not quotes. Your real number is set by WCB, not by us.
The Site offers interactive tools, including our WCB savings calculator. These tools produce estimates only, based on the figures you enter and on published rates and program parameters that change over time. Estimates are not a quote, a guarantee of any rebate, refund, premium, or savings amount, or advice about your specific situation.
WCB rebate programs — including Partnerships in Injury Reduction (PIR) — are administered by WCB-Alberta. Their terms, rates, eligibility conditions, and payment decisions are set by WCB-Alberta and may change without notice. Your actual results depend on factors our tools cannot measure, including your claims history, industry classification, and certification status. Confirm your classification and eligibility directly with WCB-Alberta.
Industry statistics quoted on the Site (for example, published ACSA or WCB-Alberta refund figures) are historical or forecast figures from the cited sources. An average is an average — it is not a prediction of what any individual employer will receive.
4. No outcome guarantees
Plain English: we prepare you thoroughly. We don’t promise results that belong to auditors, certifying partners, or WCB.
Certification decisions are made by certifying partners and external auditors, and rebate decisions are made by WCB. Nothing on this Site is a promise that you will pass an audit, obtain or keep a certification, win a contract, or receive any particular rebate. Descriptions of our services on the Site are informational; the scope of any engagement is defined in your agreement with us.
5. Forms, communications, and marketing
Plain English: if you send us your info, we’ll use it to respond to you. You can opt out of our emails any time.
When you submit a form on the Site — a contact form, a calculator, a download request, or a comment — you consent to Bastion contacting you about your inquiry by the methods you provided, in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Commercial emails we send include an unsubscribe mechanism, and you may withdraw consent at any time by using it or by contacting us at info@bastionsafe.com. How we collect, use, and protect your information is described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Comments and user submissions
Plain English: your comments are yours, but keep them civil — we can remove anything.
Where the Site allows comments or submissions, you are responsible for what you post. Do not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, infringing, or spam. You retain ownership of your submissions but grant Bastion a non-exclusive licence to display them on the Site. We may moderate, edit for length, or remove any submission at our discretion, without notice.
7. Third-party services, links, and online courses
Plain English: some things on our site run on other companies’ platforms. Their rules apply there.
The Site links to and embeds third-party services, including scheduling tools (such as Microsoft Bookings and Calendly), embedded video (such as YouTube), external references (such as WCB-Alberta, the Government of Alberta, and certifying partner sites), and analytics services. When you use those services, their own terms and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services, and a link is not an endorsement.
Online training purchases are made through our training store at training.bastionsafe.com. Purchases, refunds, course access, and certificates are governed by our Course Terms of Service and the policies of the course providers.
8. Free resources and downloads
Plain English: free tools and templates are provided as-is.
Guides, checklists, templates, and other resources offered on the Site are provided free of charge, as-is, without warranty of any kind. They are starting points, not compliance documents — adapt them to your operation and your regulator’s requirements before relying on them.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
Plain English: we work hard to keep the Site accurate, but we can’t warranty a website.
The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bastion disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
10. Limitation of liability
Plain English: decisions you make from website content are your own.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bastion will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including lost profits, lost contracts, or denied rebates — arising from your use of the Site, its tools, or its content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. This section applies to the Site only; liability under a signed service engagement is addressed in that agreement.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Bastion against claims arising from your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or content you submit.
12. Governing law
Plain English: Alberta rules apply.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta for any dispute relating to the Site. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
